WAYS TO GET INVOLVED
Feedback Surveys
Active Online Open Houses – these are “review and reply” opportunities about many of the building proposals and designs before they go into action, looking for feedback from residents:https://www.slc.gov/planning/open-houses/
There are different types of open houses, and they all have different closing dates. Visit often and come to a community meeting (the 4th Thursday of every month) to share what you feel strongly about.

Expanding Housing Options zoning updates
========================
FCC received Formal Notice Requesting Comment (survey link) by March 10th on SLC Planning Division’s proposed updates to the zoning codes. “The goal is to create gentle infill opportunities that fit in with the character of low-density Salt Lake City neighborhoods.” Of the proposal, they requested we highlight these components:
- Adding zoning regulations to allow:
- small, single-family dwellings,
- duplexes, triplexes, fourplexes, and
- up to four townhome units on smaller lots.
- Modifying the R-1, R-2, SR-1 & SR-1A Development Standards:
- include lot dimensions,
- setbacks,
- building heights,
- lot coverage allowances,
- and changes to “flag lot” (panhandle-shaped lots) standards.

UPDATES & ANNOUNCEMENTS
600 NORTH BRIDGE WILL BE OUT JANUARY – JUNE
Built in 1965, the bridge has reached the end of its service life and funding is available now to upgrade the bridge. 600/700 North will close at the Jordan River Bridge from January 5 through June 2026 so the bridge can be reconstructed. This will provide a safer and more comfortable connection for people walking, biking, and driving, and will be stronger and more resilient during earthquakes.
Detour Information
There will be no east/west access along 600/700 between Riverside Drive and 1600 West during the reconstruction. We encourage you plan your travel in advance to minimize delays.
During the closure you can expect:
– Westbound traffic will detour via 1200 West to 1000 North
– Eastbound traffic will detour via Redwood Road to 1000 North
– Riverside Drive at 700 North is anticipated to be closed during this work.
– Access to Backman Elementary School and, Riverside Park, is available on the east side of closure.
– All businesses west of the river are open and accessible from Redwood Road
– The Jordan River Trail will also be closed between 500 – 800 North.
Contact Information:
600North@slc.gov, 801-618-1003 for detour help, feedback (minimal), updates and anything else you would like to ask or say. Please be kind and remember that this is a net good for the City in the long run. Thank you Fairparkians for your understanding and communication with them!

West-East Connections – ongoing projects
================
United States Department of Transportation’s (USDOT) Reconnecting Communities Pilot Program looks into how it can financially support transportation systems all across the Nation to modernize infrastructure for longevity and to create jobs. Our very own Utah Dept of Transportation will apply for a grant to help the Westside’s “low-capacity community” status, meaning, we cannot fund these vital, bridge-dividing projects on our own.

Fairpark Area Investment & Restoration project proposals
================
Wasatch Front Regional Council has put together some transportation plan ideas around the Power District. This study was done with the Utah Fairpark Area Investment & Restoration (“UFAIR”) District. Funds come from the Power District and City & State funding allocated for transportation and community building. There is a contact email on the study (linked above) to contact with insight, ideas or concerns, but please, Fairparkians, remember to be fair! when reaching out to our civil servants, and to be mindful of their perview.
The general contact for the Wasatch Front Regional Council is wfrc@wfrc.utah.gov.
